Rice rose to the test of a challenging 15th edition of the Bintan Triathlon with an all-round strong performance. After posting the 2nd best split on both the swim and bike, she found herself in the lead with Vicky Hill, a strong runner, her closest rival at 2:20. With the fastest run of the day, Rice secured the win and left no doubt about who the Champion of 2019 is.

It was a long time coming that O’shea would add a Bintan Triathlon win to his palmares. He did so in dominating fashion. After the swim O’shea already had a 2 minutes advantage over his nearest competitor, which he would extend steadily to 7 minutes by the time he hit the finish chute. His finish time of 2:15, far from his best, reflected the challenging course and conditions in 2019.

Jennifer Zenker

After winning everything she entered in Singapore, Zenker hit the Bintan Triathlon 2017 as a resounding favourite. A smoking race, headlined by her trademark swim, powerful bike and steady run saw her cross the line just nine seconds short of the record and fourth finisher overall. In 2018 she extended her reign in similar dominating fashion and finishing this time 2nd overall

Andy Wibowo

The Indonesian Olympic swimmer turned triathlete has now more Bintan Triathlon titles than any other athlete in the history of the event. In his last three appearances (2015, 2016 and 2018) he led from start to finish to crown himself the King of the Bintan Triathlon.

After a couple of near misses, Jansen finally scored the win in 2017. A strong swim saw him exit the water in the front pack, but it was the bike where he dominated gaining a minute lead, which he extended during the run to win by 90 seconds.

Natalie Anderson

48 years young on race day, Natalie is the oldest Bintan Triathlon Champion to date. Natalie scored her first Bintan Triathlon win in a come from behind race, which saw her exit the swim in sixth position with a three-minute deficit on the leader. A stellar bike leg saw her hit the front. A position she never relinquished as she finished the race with a solid run.

Jacquelyn Foley

Jacquelyn Foley owned the Singapore racing scene early 2015, winning all races with stellar swims and no less impressive bike and run disciplines. At the Bintan Triathlon she faced her toughest challenge yet in defending champion, Kathryn Haesner. It came down to the run in which she managed to edge away and win by a slender 30-seconds advantage.

Chris Mccormack

Multiple World Champion in Olympic Distance and Iron Distance Multiple World Champion in Olympic Distance and Iron Distance Triathlon, Chris can also call himself a Bintan Triathlon Champion on both the Sprint and Olympic Distance. In 2015 he returned with his family to share the Bintan Triathlon experience and added another Sprint title to his palmares, just for fun.

Kathryn Haesner

Kathryn dominated the Bintan Triathlon in 2014. She won it by an enormous 10-minute margin, leading from start to finish. In 2015 she faced a greater challenge and finished 2nd to Jacquelyn Foley, despite clocking a personal best time on the Bintan course.

With four athletes within a minute Jean won the closest finish in Bintan Triathlon history. It came as a complete surprise, as he had passed number 2 only in the final kilometre and did not know that the race leader had succumbed to a heat stroke just before.

Assad Attamimi

Assad already showed his potential in 2006 with a 3rd place behind George Lawson and Mark Jansen. In 2010 he took the crown in a very exciting finale, distancing himself from his two main competitors (of whom Mark Jansen was one) in the final lap of the run. In 2012 he won in a more commanding fashion when he led from start to finish. In 2011 and 2014 it was Professional athletes Fredrik Croneborg and Chirs McCormack respectively that kept him from winning more Bintan Triathlon titles.

Alice Hector

Alice won both bintan Triathlon PRO races held in 2006 and 2007, what has probably been the biggest pay days in her triathlon career. She went on to take 3rd in the European Long Distance Championships in 2007 before she retired from professional triathlon. Alice came back to compete as an age-grouper in 2010 and won again!
